Popol, Creator of Fruit Pulp Vinegars

The greatest names in gourmet cooking – such as Dominique Loiseau (wife of the Michelin-starred chef Bernard Loiseau and the first woman to become vice-president of the Relais & Châteaux organization), Paul Bocuse (one of the world’s most famous chefs, holder of three Michelin stars for 53 consecutive years (from 1965 to 2018), where Thierry Marx (two Michelin Guide stars, five Gault & Millau Guide toques (19/20), jury on Top Chef France) – have nothing but praise for Popol’s vinegars.

After over 30 years as an artisan ice cream maker based in Saint-Cyr-sur-Mer, in the Var department, Popol’s popularity skyrocketed just four years ago thanks to the launch of innovative regional products.

Motivated by a desire to create and to take nothing for granted, the artisan embarked on a new venture!

Popol is the creator of the famous fruit pulp vinegars, a jealously guarded trade secret! Many have tried, unsuccessfully, to replicate his delicious recipes. Popol’s vinegars are a cut above because of their exceptional quality.

They are made with 100% natural ingredients and contain no preservatives (although they are pasteurized). Prepared following a method that preserves the flavour of each individual ingredient, these vinegars are the result of an artisanal expertise that simply can’t be imitated!

A Visit to the South of France!

Saint-Cyr-sur-Mer is located on the Mediterranean coast, in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur (PACA) region, 10 km west of the city of Bandol, between Marseille and Toulon.

While it is known as a seaside resort, it is also an agricultural commune planted with fine fruit and vegetable crops, olive groves, and most of all, vineyards. The commune is part of the Côtes-de-Provence Bandol controlled designation of origin. Saint-Cyr-sur-Mer comprises over 350 hectares of vines growing in fields cultivated since antique times, and is home to 115 cooperative members and 11 winemaking estates!

Provence, A Region Rich in Culinary Innovations

Any mention of the PACA region immediately brings to mind French gastronomy.

With its wealth of aromas and flavours, the cuisine from this gorgeous sunny region is inspired by the most sophisticated culinary trends and offers a wide range of local specialties, each more delicious than the next!
