Ingredients needed

  • 400 g of ground beef
  • The crumb of 2 slices of bread
  • 60 ml (1/4 cup) milk
  • 60 ml (1/4 cup) of grated Parmesan
  • 1 egg
  • Favuzzi olive oil
  • 2 garlic cloves, cut into slices
  • 1 480 ml bottle of Favuzzi basil tomato sauce
  • A few fresh basil leaves
  • Grated Parmesan, to garish

Steps of preparation

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. In a bowl, soak the bread crumb in milk for a few minutes.
  3. In another bowl, combine the ground beef, soaked bread (squeezed to remove excess milk), grated Parmesan, and the egg.
  4. Season with salt and pepper, then mix until well combined.
  5. Form about 12 meatballs and place them on a baking sheet.
  6. Bake for 12–15 minutes, until lightly browned.
  7. Meanwhile, in a pan over low heat, add a drizzle of olive oil.
  8. Add the garlic and cook for 2 minutes.
  9. Stir in the tomato sauce and basil leaves.
  10. Cover and let simmer for 10 minutes.
  11. Add the cooked meatballs to the sauce and simmer for another 10–15 minutes.
  12. Serve hot, topped with grated Parmesan and fresh basil leaves.
