Ingredients needed
- 400 g of fresh calamari, cleaned and cut into rings
- 120 ml (1/2 cup) of milk
- The juice of half a lemon
- 1 egg
- 250 ml (1 cup) of flour
- 120 ml (1/2 cup) of wheat semolina flour
- Oil for frying
- 120 ml (1/2 cup) of Favuzzi basil tomato sauce
- Lemon wedges (for serving)

Steps of preparation
- In a bowl, mix the milk, lemon juice, and egg.
- Season with salt and pepper, then add the calamari.
- Mix well and let marinate for 30 minutes.
- In a separate dish, combine the flour and semolina and lightly season with salt.
- Drain the calamari, then coat them in the dry mixture.
- Shake off any excess flour.
- Heat oil in a large pot or deep fryer to 375°F (190°C).
- Fry the calamari in small batches for 2–3 minutes, until golden and crispy.
- Remove and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.
- Serve hot with the tomato sauce and lemon wedges.
